. . . and a new one just begun

'Samuel Pepys' by Claire Tomalin
'The Mezzanine' by Nicholson Baker (thank you Corey Redekop)
'Power of Art' by Simon Schama
'Die Zauberflöte' cond. Otto Klemperer (about time)
'transparente' by Mariza (no idea why!)
A scarf, champagne, and a box of chocolate-covered cherries.

And 12 of us dining out at the local fabulous Thai and seriously overstaying our welcome.

Happy Birthday to me.

Is it really? Why, happy birthday to you! It was our anniversary today, so I had a very fine Moroccan-inspired dinner on your birthday. ;-)

May this year be the best yet!

Happy birthday Mangonel.

How come I've never visited this blog before?

I see from your profile you like Bach, Handel, Powell and Pressburger, Coen Bros like me. And I have even read An Instance of the Fingerpost, and I think I liked it, though can't remember what the fuck it was about.

And I live 2 miles from Bucks, near Ashridge Forest.

I don't know you do I??

Thank you all!

Cello, I am relatively new to blogging, but I do see you around - am I an-angelically rushing in if I ask why you don't have a blog? I can't be alone in wishing you did. And Ashridge is beautiful - we walk there from time to time. Maybe we have exchanged diffident oh-so-English "Good Day"s there!

ILTV - show a little respect please! And I was interested to learn from my sister who is just back from three weeks in Thailand that the food was no different from the Thai restaurants here. I find that though immensely cheering. As good as a large bowl of Tom Yum Goong.

well, that's what comes of not collecting your birthday card. . .

;-)

*smiles sweetly*

:-)

(which has now been totally defaced with more cheery birthday songs of a similar nature)(well, exactly the same actually. . . don't know many birthday songs)

:-(

ooh! a yummy bowl of hot Thai soup - just right for a chilly day (and much more enticing than squashed tomato stew)(acutally, when you collect your birthday card, don't bother reading the comments - it'll be a bit of deja vu experience now)
